The death has been announced of probably the most famous editor in the history of UK trade magazine Tackle & Guns, Cyril Holbrook, writes John Mitchell.

He passed away on Thursday, November 11th, aged 86 years old. Cyril had survived three bouts of cancer but, as his son Paul, said: “You can’t be a winner all the time.”

Predator angler Ant Glascoe Jr has joined UK tackle dealer chain Fishing Republic following the acquisition of the firm by the JD Sports Group. Fishing Republic became part of JD Outdoors in December 2019, and the UK’s biggest retail group for outdoors is expanding its team in Greater Manchester by hiring fishing specialists in a bid to become market leaders in the sector.
