Japanese manufacturer Zenaq continues to offer top-quality rods for keen sea anglers targeting big species from the shore, with more being added to its Muthos ranges.

Alongside its flagship Type R rods, the Japanese brand also boasts a high-standard Ocean variant under the Muthos Accura name.

Each is offered in one of three configurations – the Accura 100H, Accura 100HH and the latest model, the Accura 95H.

Each boasts the newly developed original hexagon reel seat, single wrapped guides and so much more for dependable casting and fish-playing plus the power and flexibility to handle many lure sizes.

The Type R has a wide range of features to benefit anglers.

The shape of the future

Zenaq‘s Hexagon reel seat is made from high-strength, long-fibre TORAYCA carbon composited with a special moulding machine to form a sturdy framework., meaning even large reels will be held firmly without wobbling.

The surface of the framework is covered with a special rubber to create a new feeling of comfort in the hands.

The shape is also designed to suppress left and right reel rattling,and transmit power without loss. This can conserve hand strength, which is the first to wear out, and increase the probability of catching a big fish.

A rubber cushion has been included or the area where the reel foot rests. This prevents the reel from loosening even if it's not strongly tightened. As a result, the rod and many popular reels are perfectly integrated.

This is complemented by the Hexagon grip, made to drastically reduce the burden on anglers, ensuring secure yet easy lure manipulation, fighting and general rod use.
Zenaq says its original grips are now indispensable for big game.

Guiding light

The single wrapped guides create a feeling closer to an original blank design, as they don’t interfere with the rod action and allow for a feeling closer to the original blank design.
Indeed, the whole RG Guids system is designed to draw out the fullest performance of a spinning rod, resolving the downsides of using PE li, and maximises its benefits. The single wrapping evolves the RG concept even further.

Meanwhile, the Easy-Hold end grip offers exceptional feeling for perfect casts, while the combination of metal parts reduces unnecessary grip area for smoother casting.
The rods look the part, too, thanks to the original Type R original metal ring plus gun-metallic thread and a silk-printed Muthos logo.

Into the Ocean

The Ocean model has been redesigned with large guides to accommodate the variety of long leader systems and thicker leaders now being used. The butt guide is a sturdy, large diameter Ocean Guide #40. By increasing the guide size, Zenaq has increased tolerance for the wide variety of line systems that use different leaders, spacers, and knots. A #12 guide is used for the top guide and those on the tip section, ensuring comfortable line release even with heavy line systems.

All guides are single wrapped, giving the rod a sharper feel, bringing out the inherent action designed into the blank.

There’s a Hexagon front grip, too, alongside a FUJI IC-DPS20 reel seat whole the grip end is equipped with a FUJI rubber end.

Redefining the norm
Since its launch in 2014, the Muthos Accura has pioneered a whole new style of rock shore fishing. It has been refined over 10 years around the world.

The latest model, the Muthos Accura 95H is the culmination of Zenaq’s accumulated know-how with its evolutionary DBL Structure.
More than just a short version – coming in as the name suggests at 9ft 5in – this is the next generation rod that combines the qualities of the Accura H and Accura HH classes.

The Accura 95H addresses the inherent limitations of short rods, such as casting distance and the challenge of manipulating a lure close to shore, with its innovative Magic Tip, rugged butt section and the middle section that connects the two.
It also takes advantage of its shorter length to deliver sharper casts, allow for more technical lure manoeuvrability, improved fight control and reduced physical strain.
The result is a versatile rod that excels at casting a wide range of lures, making it a “rod with no blind spots” as it can handle everything from 30g to 230g.

To cast lightweight lures, a mere soft tip is not enough to achieve sufficient casting distance and direction. Instead flexible and powerful strength from the middle to the butt section is necessary.
Zenaq’s DBL Structure technology bends according to the load in order to cast a range of lure weights while the Magic Tip has evolved to the point where it can efficiently cast and control lightweight lures as light as 30g.
It is designed to maximise the movement of any kinds of plugs such as stickbaits, minnows, and poppers, even in rough seas.
Additionally, it improves hook penetration and reduces the likelihood of hooks dropping out, increasing the chance of landing your catch.
The middle section plays a key role in combining the soft tip suitable for 30g lures with the fighting capabilities of HH class rods.
The challenge in designing power short rods lies in the shorter lengths of the tip, middle and butt sections compared to long rods.
This requires advanced engineering to ensure that each section performs its role seamlessly when all are connected.
The Accura 95H overcomes this challenge with a unique middle section, developed from our extensive experience with the Accura and Sonio, that is both delicate and robust as needed.

Both plugging and jigging have been greatly improved, as a result, making this a truly powerful tool for anglers who primarily use jigging in their fishing game.
