Rapala VMC Corporation has agreed a deal to acquire Okuma’s European and Russian trademarks and associated assets for around $8 million USD.

At the same time, the two businesses have reached a supply agreement for Rapala VMC to buy Okuma branded reels and rods from the company.

Donald Cooke, the company with major fishing brands Rod Hutchinson & Bait-Tech within its portfolio, has been granted planning permission to expand its factory in Sheffield, England.
The new building will hold over 400 pallets for stocks of tackle and manufactured goods ready for sale and 60 tonnes of silo space for bulk ingredients. Construction was due to start in January.
