Westin signs first full-time pro predator angler

Westin Fishing’s long-term sales representative Daniel Nilsson has become its marketing and content specialist on the water, effectively making him Europe’s first full-time professional predator angler.

The Scandinavian tackle brand is at the forefront of the European predator tackle industry, continuously launching a steady stream of innovative, long-lasting fish-catching products. This is the Danish-based brand’s DNA, which is shared by Daniel.

“After nine years was a sale representative, it is time for Westin to take the lead and adapt,” Daniel declared. “My job has evolved in the past three years to a more marketing-oriented role. The decision to assign me as marketing and content specialist is an honour and a huge step for the European industry in general.

“Never as an eager 15-year-old fishing enthusiast, applying to a sportfishing academy, did I think that this was a possibility for me but dreams can come true. Me and my heart belongs at Westin with my friends.”

Across the Atlantic it is not unusual for a skilled angler to be able to make a living on the water but, until now, it is almost unheard of in Europe. Times are changing and Westin believes and is proud of Daniel being the first of many professional European anglers to come.

Westin's marketing manager, Andreas Aggerlund, said: “It is no secret that brand ambassadors have taken a on greater role in the promoting our brands over the last years. Influencers, competition and team anglers alike play a crucial role in our success and we take great pride in our team of anglers, which we regard as one of, if not the best in Europe. Ever since Daniel joined the Westin family and team, he has been a valued colleague with innovative ideas, dedication, loyalty and a tremendously high skill level which all lead to this day.”

Daniel is well-known across Europe for his participation in the online fishing tournaments PikeFight, PerchFight and PredatorFight.

Thomas Petersen Eldor, Westin CEO, clarifies that Daniel’s assignment to his new position at Westin have been a fluid transition. “For the past three to four years Daniel has taken on many marketing related assignments on the side of his regular responsibilities as sales rep. Daniel has amongst others represented Westin in many competitions and YouTube productions whilst presenting new and old products in his steady flow of social media content. In the future all the above-mentioned tasks will be intensified, but there will also be a lot of open-door days in corporation with our large customers, PR events and so on in Daniel’s schedule.”

Daniel will start as marketing and content specialist with immediate effect.
