Organisers hail IFTD show as major success

Despite multiple postponements and an ongoing global pandemic, the American Fly Fishing Trade Association has said it pulled off a successful trade show at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

The IFTD (International Fly Tackle Dealers) Show had a total of 850 registered attendees and 81 exhibitors in 19,400 sq ft of exhibit space that sat on a show floor with 81,000 gross sq ft of space.

The IFTD Industry Breakfast had 150 attendees and, with the most attendees ever, the Dealer Summit boasted 80 registrants. In addition, 38 companies entered over 150 products in the New Product Showcase in more than 30 categories.

AFFTA executive director, Lucas Bissett, said, “Helping to facilitate face-to-face interactions for the fly fishing industry at IFTD in Salt Lake City was one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career.

“This show was not only something myself and Kenneth Andres, our show director, wanted; this was something that ourselves and our industry needed.

“While the metrics we used in the past don’t seem to carry the same weight, those who attended the event I spoke with were pleasantly surprised by the turnout and quality of their meetings. That, along with bringing everyone together to discuss the future, makes IFTD 2022 a major success in my book.”
