Industry stalwart and former EFTTA president passes away

The international tackle trade has been saddened to learn of the passing of Pierangelo Zanetta, the one-time president of the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association (EFTTA) and a key player in Shimano Europe for many years.

Having started at Shimano Europe in product development, he rose through the ranks to become managing director in 1999 and it was during his time working there that he was appointed to the board of EFTTA in 2007 , becoming president the following year, a role he continued until 2016.

EFTTA’s president Robin Morley, CEO Olivier Portrat (CEO) and former CEO Jean Claude Bel (former CEO) joined colleagues  and the secretariat in offering their condolences following Pierangelo’s death on January 27th, following a long illness. Despite his illness, it is understood he still found time to go fishing in his final years.

He led EFTTA during some challenging times and was responsible for the implementation of some significant projects such as the Line Charter.  He will be missed not just by his friends at EFTTA but also by his former colleagues at Shimano Europe and the global fishing tackle industry.

He leaves behind a wife and daughter.
