EFTTA welcomes new men at the top

The European Fishing Tackle Trade Association has new leadership following the retirement of its previous president, Daiwa’s Robin Morley.

Jan Mertens (left) of Pure Fishing has been appointed by the EFFTA board with Ross Honey (right) of Angling Spirit, which organise events including the World Carp Classic, World Predator Classic and Sea Angling Classic, taking on the role of vice president.

Meanwhile, Tobias Hilfer will take over the Daiwa spot within the EFTTA board.

EFTTA works to represent the interests of the European fishing tackle industry at parliamentary level, lobbying against restrictions and educating those in charge in Brussels.

EFTTA CEO Olivier Portrat said: “EFTTA wants to thank Robin Morley for his precious work. The past years were turbulent times for EFTTA, due to Brexit and Covid-19, that made the classic EFTTEX Shows void.

“EFTTA had decided to shut down its British structure (EFTTA Ltd and EFTTEX Ltd) and to start a new association within the European Union. EFTTA is now an AISBL (international non-profit association) registered in Belgium.

“Robin Morley was of great support in these challenging times as he took over – among others - the task to liquidate our British companies.

On behalf of the EFTTA board, we wish Robin an excellent time for his retirements – may he stay healthy and have a lot of time for fishing!”
