Sportfish streams online show to beat Covid-19

The annual Sportfish Show in the UK headed online this year, bringing the excitement of its popular game fishing event into anglers’ homes instead.

Held over a weekend, the event included a stream of live demonstrations and interactive sessions direct from the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre in Reading, England.

It saw exclusive talks from angling celebrities, fly tying exhibitions and lessons, tackle clinics, entomology, alongside a range of competitions and special offers for attendees.

In all, it featured a programme of 13 pre-recorded films and 12 livestreamed videos over the two days, which were premiered and livestreamed on the company’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Brands including Guideline, Snowbee, Scott and Simms took on live streams with pre-recorded videos from Hardy, Mackenzie, RIO, Sage, Fulling Mill, Veniard and Semperfli along with presentations and Q&A discussions with conservation bodies such as the Atlantic Salmon Trust, Wild Trout Trust, Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society, and the Environment Agency.

 Helping them host the weekend and acting as compere, was angling guru, TTW contributor and the man behind Fishing for Schools, Charles Jardine.

The varied programme of entertainment also included live fly-tying tutorials, an entomology lesson, a livestreamed ‘fish-off'’at Haywards Farm Lake, casting demonstrations and fishing techniques.
