Registration open for spectacular Sea Angling Classic

Following the huge success of the UK-based Sea Angling Classic this year, it is set to return even bigger and better in 2023 and registration is now open for the first wave of competitors.

Those planning to take part in the recreational boat category can now apply for places, with the event itself schedule from June 14th to 18th in Portsmouth.

Beginning with a spectacular opening parade in the historic naval city, the competition arena itself will remain the same (subject to weather) as there were over 3,000 fish caught this year. The target species will be smooth hound, tope, sea bass, bream and skate during the catch, photograph and release event, using Angling Spirit’s live leaderboard app.

Organiser and founder Ross Honey said: “Thanks to the great support of our sponsors and event partner,s we have a phenomenal prize table with a top prize of an Extreme 745 Game king with trailer, complete with a 300hp V6 Yamaha engine and Helm Master EX system with joystick control.

“Lowrance will be providing the ultimate fishing system, ensuring the prize boat has the very best and latest in equipment to keep you safe while out on the water and to catch fish.

“The captain of the boat also wins a trip to New Zealand to see the amazing build quality of the boat. Prizes go from 1st to 20th place with categories for biggest of each of the five species, best placed lady angler, best placed junior and best placed boat of 6.7m and under.

“There will be a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the water with great social occasions for everybody to enjoy throughout the event.

The event will culminate with a great celebration party on Saturday night (June 17th) in Portsmouth at Gunwharf Quays, followed by the full prize giving on the Sunday.”

In line with Angling Spirit’s best practice angling and respect for the environment, all competitors – prior to the event commencing – will need to again complete a shoreline clean up as part of their condition of entry.
