Mustad enters rod market with eight ranges

Hook, lure and tackle giant Mustad Fishing has entered the rod market, unveiling eight initial ranges globally, covering a wide variety of techniques and disciplines.

Alongside its LiveTarget and Tuf-Line brands, the firm sees this as a further move towards solidifying itself as a complete sports fishing brand family.

Developed with US Bassmaster Elite pro angler Brandon Lester, the BLF Instinct rods lead the way with tailored specifications and premium components, tested and proven at professional level.

In February, these helped Lester win the St Croix Bassmaster Southern Open on the Kissimmee Chain. The range incorporates 14 rods, available now.

Brandon said: “I’ve been fishing my whole life and everyone knows my history as a custom rod builder. I’ve put everything I’ve learned as a builder and an Elite Series angler into these rods. Each rod is designed just the way I needed it, down to the finest detail.”

Meanwhile, its inshore ranges give anglers the construction of custom rods for a competitive price. The G-Series Inshore is a performance-level rod available in a wide range of power and action configurations in a spinning-style reel seat.

The popular slow pitch jigging techniques from Japan have gone global and become a staple in offshore fishing. The G-Series Slow Stroke Jigging range offers four versatile rods featuring 40T high-modulus carbon blank and premium Fuji reel seat and tangle-free guides. They are available in four one-section models to match all Mustad slow fall jig weights and styles.

For the passionate freshwater angler, there’s the G-Series Hybrid. Built around an innovative telescoping/two-section design, these s offer the mobility of a collapsible rod while maintaining strength and sensitivity of a typical two-section rod, making them ideal for large lakes and rivers.

Using the same telescopic construction, the Vantage Hybrid rod is an extremely versatile rod, ideal for modern urban lure fishing techniques available in both spinning and baitcaster.

Designed for Nordic anglers, Mustad’s Escape Spin rods are ideal for freshwater species as well as inshore saltwater species like mackerel and sea trout. For big game, the Escape Boat comes in two fast-action options with a reinforced construction designed for monster halibut.

The Vantage EVOQ range is a multi-purpose, fast-action rod for modern lure fishing techniques while the Vantage FX range is a virtually indestructible option for the widest range of applications, considered a proper workhorse.

Mustad’s product manager Enrico Parmeggiani said: “We’ve brought together the experiences and input from professionals and talents across the globe to bring an impressive range of rods to the market.

“I am extremely satisfied with the quality and construction of these products and look forward to continuing this journey.”

Mustad rods will hit stores this spring with more products to be announced at ICAST in July.
