EFTTEX on the cards for 2025
As the European Fishing Tackle Trade Association (EFTTA) reveals plans an Angling Summit for later this year, it has also been announced that the EFTTEX trade show looks set to return in 2025.
Although EFTTEX 2023, staged in Budapest, was considered a success by some, proposals to run another this year were dropped at the start of the year, although TTW understands another European trade show – not sanctioned by EFTTA – is being touted.
But the focus this year will, instead, be on an engaging Angling Summit, designed to bring together the industry for two days of discussions, seminars and networking in a central European location.
The summit concept – which is already favoured by the American Sportfishing Association and the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (which will be running its first in place of the IFTD Show later this year) – is seen as a precursor to the return of EFTTEX in 2025.
Although a venue has not been revealed, it is understood that discussions are well underway, although it is also likely that EFTTA itself will not oversee the show as it is concentrating on its lobbying efforts in the European parliament to safeguard the future of our sport and the industry.
EFTTA vice-president Ross Honey told TTW: “Currently under consideration for 2024 is an Angling Summit with an industry awards [event] and a restructured, made-for-purpose EFTTEX show in 2025. There are several different companies submitting proposals to run these initiatives and are due to have these to EFTTA for consideration by mid-March.”
