Semperfli enjoys Royal appointment for award

The joy of being awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise (International Trade) continues for UK fly tying materials manufacturer Semperfli!

Semperfli director Andy Kitchener attended an awards reception at Buckingham Palace and had the great honour of personally meeting Prince Charles and shaking his hand.

The reception was attended by various award winners from many different sectors and the opulent surroundings of the Palace made for a very special and memorable occasion indeed.

Also attending were Princess Anne, many Lord Lieutenants, the Queen’s Award office and other award winners.

It is well known that Prince Charles is a keen fly angler and, whilst at the reception, Prince Charles noticed the fly pin that Andy was wearing.

The fly was an eye-catching Semperfli orange and made from Semperfli materials of course, which led to a good discussion. Andy explained that Semperfli’s materials are produced in the UK and shipped worldwide, with 93 per cent of their work exported.

Prince Charles was most impressed by the company’s work and its international trade, congratulating Andy sincerely on its achievements.

The next stage of the award process is for the North Yorkshire Lord Lieutenant to come to Semperfli’s premises to present a commemorative crystal bowl and a Grant of Appointment, which everyone is looking forward to. Plans are already afoot for a great party at Semperfli that day.
